If you believe the marketing Charles Heidsieck is a champage for ‘those in the know’ whilst we toff’s don’t wish to be part of such harsh and utter shameless marketing we would say that many of the wines within the Charles Heidsieck house are without doubty a stunning assult on your taste senses, a thorougly delcatble experience.
The house went through some wobbles but under the direction of Daniel Thibault has revitalised Charles Heidsieck to great acclaim. The award winning champagnes include the Brut reserve, Charles Heidsieck Mis en Cave NV, Piper-Heidsieck Brut NV, the Gold Top Vintage and the Rose.
The Toff cellars are a might empty of Heidsieck however we hope to be tasting some of the latest vintages and posting our findings on the toff blog in the coming weeks. Naturally you can also send some to us for a plug.. sense the irony in our post?

Heidsieck & Co Monopole Blue Top NV
A great champagne that won’t break the bank. Some say this is one of Champagnes greatest secrets. Here at Toff HQ we do indeed agree! An outstanding Champagne from a top quality House.
Heidsieck & Co. Monopole was the official champagne aboard the ill-fated Titanic, my gosh you know they even pulled a bottle from the depths and it tasted fantastic.
This is a Non Vintage (NV) Champagne meaning that its taken from grapes from different years and areas of Champagne. Some of our french cousins actually prefer NV champagnes, to dated vintage ones. They say it offers a more consistent finish and flavour.

Charles Heidsieck Mis en Cave NV Brut Reserve
An aperitif wine by its sheer excellence, this tasty champage offers a beautiful golden hue, with very fine bubbles. To the nose you instantly succomb to the most devine smell of a pastry store, then violets, lime tree in full fruit and the usual dried apricot tones.
To the mouth its silky smooth but then melts in your mouth! A sensual explosion that has enabled this fine wine to win multiple awards for the house.
A noteable review from Jane at the Times’ “A rare new Champagne success story, this gorgeous mis en cave, bottled and cellared in 2001, has matured into a rich, floral, hazelnut-scented wine with real pedigree.”
Jane MacQuitty,
The Times
